What kind of a man is Andropov?

Andropov won his first reputation in the territories Russia grabbed
from Finland.  His big coup was supervising the suppression of the
Hungarian revolution.  He helped entice the prime minister out of
the Yugoslavian Embassy with promises of safety and then had them
executed.  More recently he perfected the system of sending the
dissidents to prison camps for long terms and then sentencing many
of them to longer terms when they are just about to get out.
What has Reagan done that is comparable?

Political partisanship gone mad leads to playing up to our country's
enemies.  Some right wingers who hated Roosevelt had good things to
say about Hitler.

Are you pleased with the results of getting the U.S. out of Vietnam and
Cambodia?

Would it be your fault if El Salvador turned into another Cambodia?
How can you assure us that it wouldn't?  You said good things about
the Khmer Rouge?  2 million dead in Cambodia after the communist
victory.  Half a million dead in Vietnam trying to escape.  How
many refugees should we accept?

It went from ten percent to five percent of GNP, and Reagan wants
to raise it to seven percent.

Do you promise never to say that again?

We didn't lose in Vietnam, and we won't lose in El Salvador either
provided we persist.  We should defend El Salvador at a level of
effort we can sustain indefinitely and review the situation at
the end of the century.

	What can I expect?

El Salvador human rights?
Yes, these right wing death squads are bad, but the left kills more,
especially after they win.

Exploitation?  I don't believe it.  The most prosperous third world
countries are those that have the most trade with the advanced countries.
